GA4 Analytics Advisor: Your New AI-Powered Analyst
GA4 now includes an AI assistant for natural language queries. Capabilities, limitations, and practical impact for marketing teams.
An AI Assistant Directly Inside GA4
Since December 2025, Google has been rolling out Analytics Advisor in GA4 properties. The tool lets you ask questions in natural language and get answers in the form of charts, tables, and text analyses. In January 2026, automatically generated insights appeared on GA4’s home page, surfacing trends and anomalies without any query required.
The stated goal is to democratize access to analytical data. No need to master custom explorations or advanced segments to get a quick answer.
What the AI Can Do
Analytics Advisor excels at simple, direct queries. “What are my most viewed pages this month?”, “Where does my mobile traffic come from?”, “How are my conversions trending compared to last month?” — these types of questions get relevant, well-formatted answers.
The tool can cross dimensions, apply time filters, and generate appropriate visualizations. For a marketing team that needs quick answers without going through an analyst, the time savings are real.
Automatic insights on the home page identify statistical anomalies: unusual traffic spikes, conversion rate drops on a segment, or emerging traffic sources. These proactive alerts prevent you from missing important signals.
Current Limitations
The first limitation is linguistic: at launch, the tool works primarily in English. Understanding of queries in other languages is uneven, with sometimes approximate results.
Analytics Advisor cannot access custom explorations, complex conversion funnels, or advanced segments you created manually. It works on standard reports and the raw data of the property.
Multi-touch attribution analyses, custom scoring models, and advanced correlations remain out of reach. The AI provides observations, not strategic recommendations contextualized to your business.
Concrete Use Cases for Teams
For marketing managers, Analytics Advisor is a daily monitoring tool. Checking yesterday’s performance, identifying an underperforming campaign, confirming a hunch about a segment: these micro-analyses that used to take ten minutes now take one.
For executives, it provides direct access to key metrics without depending on a weekly report. The technical barrier disappears.
For analysts, it is an accelerator for exploratory queries. Instead of building a report to verify a quick hypothesis, a natural language question suffices.
What AI Will Not Replace
Strategic analysis remains human. Understanding why a segment converts better, building an attribution model tailored to your sales cycle, cross-referencing GA4 data with your CRM: these tasks require an understanding of the business context that AI does not have.
A rigorous GA4 and GTM setup remains the essential prerequisite. AI can only correctly analyze data that is correctly collected. If your events are misconfigured or your conversions poorly defined, Analytics Advisor’s answers will be misleading.
